It especially irks me when someone puts down THEIR OWN ideas because they don't believe they can succeed. Pessimism is only a useless hindrance to progress of any kind. Just as worthless though, is optimism. It fills your head with pipe dreams and doesn't allow for concentration or realistic goals.
Instead, I prefer to be a reactionist. I don't assume the worst; nor do I assume the best. The old addage "When you assume, you make an ASS of U and ME" is quite accurate.
As the title of this entry implies, it is often best to hold your opinions and reservations until you have all the facts upon which to base a sturdy hypothesis.
You shouldn't automatically assume something will fail because there is some sort of flaw with the initial plan. Nor should you assume it will succeed because there is no flaw at all.
Nothing is completely predictable, and nothing is set in stone. Rather than bashing somebody else's idea because you're afraid of the consequences, you should keep your assumptions to yourself and wait it out.
One last word of wisdom, is that you'll never be able to control everything. Ever. So instead, be prepared for all outcomes by assuming any outcome is equally possible.
